LT. G. RAY BETTENCOURT

February 26, 1945 to January 7, 2005

Lt. Ray Bettencourt began his law enforcement career in 1984 under Sheriff James Dixon.  Ray moved through the ranks being promoted to Staff Sergeant and then to Lieutenant by Sheriff Larry D. Travis.  Ray was supervisor of the night shift.  He loved to work the night shift patroling and checking  businesses and ensuring the safety of all Pike County citizens. 

" Ray was not only an employee but a close personal of friend of mine." Ray unit# 6604 will be sadly missed by all employees of the Pike County Sheriff's Office.

Special Deputy

November 24, 1937--August 31, 2007

Tom had been with the Pike County Sheriff's Office since 1995.  He began his service to the community as a Special Deputy.  In 2003 he accepted a position as a part-time Deputy.  He provided security to the Government Center and processed summons for the Department of Job and Family Services.  He remained in this position, until 2006.

Tom was a good friend and will be missed at the Sheriff's Office
